Moderna Man

Some have said I’m somewhat of a renaissance man, but today, I’m Moderna Man. Twelve months and one week after NYC was shutdown because of a global pandemic, I’m finally eligible to get my first shot. It’s a testament to a remarkable turnaround in scientific expectations compared to where we were last year. And a testimony to America’s ingenuity to utilize a new technology and get it to market first – safely. For a moment, I was concerned it would be summer by the time I got the jab.

Apart from NYC’s mass vaccination sites such as the Javits Centre and Armories, with the increase in supply, the city’s major pharmacies are now also offering the COVID vaccines, such as Walgreens/Duane Read & CVS. Which is a game changer in getting more shots into people’s arms faster. I had a whole range of choice and times. The shot itself was the least painful I’ve had (and I HATE needles). Arm feels fine. No side effects. Still wearing a mask. Second shot is automatically scheduled when you book the first. Here’s to getting closer to what, I hope, is a normal summer this year.

We have to beat these new virulent variants, so I encourage folks to get theirs when ready and let’s get to that herd immunity.

Meanwhile, 30 millions infections and 543,000 deaths in the USA.
