Voice Call

For those of you that don’t already know, I started my career as a filmmaker when I was in my late teens/early 20’s. A passion fueled growing up amongst film sets in my dad’s bar and celeb haunt, The Harbour Bar in Bray, the “Hollywood” of Ireland. Bragging rights were getting University College Dublin recognized for its film talent in festivals and having some stuff on TV back in the day (none of it paying a living wage). Skills I later brought to music videos here and a little there and later into marketing as a corporate sell out.

Over the last twelve mindless months under, COVID, I’ve re-acquainted myself with filmmaking and wanted to say something after having documented an empty New York City during the spring of last year. I want to hear your voices and how you felt during these trying times. I believe this will be a special documentary of an extraordinary time in an extraordinary city. And I’d love for you to be a part of that.

My request is simple. Ask and answer three questions in a sentence or two.

  1. What do you like/hate about New York City?
  2. Post COVID -what do you think the future of cities everywhere will be (e.g. from work, play, culture, people)?
  3. Thinking back to last April/May – how were you feeling?

Use your phone to video or record your voice asking yourself the above questions and then email to surrealnycrunning@gmail.com before March 31st. Tip, best to record in a quiet room for better quality. Or if you feel more comfortable, I can consider coming to you in your in NYC (with Covid precautions in mind).

We will listen to all submissions. They don’t have to be from NYC. Can’t wait to hear from you!
